Go into all the World and preach the gospel, to every creation.
The words leapt from the page and sunk to the bottom of my heart like a ton of wet bricks. ALL Creation? Like...everyone? Like it's MY job to let everyone know of the Good News? Jesus' last instruction to us before He ascended to the Father stared at me in the face. His Spirit, full of mercy, love, and direction showed me how too often I have easily found an excuse to not tell someone of His love.
"I don't want to offend anyone."
"What if they know Him already?"
"What if they get uncomfortable?"
"What if it is awkward?"
It's as if I have placed more value on their temporary comfort (theirs and mine) than I have on their eternal comfort. Although I do share the gospel periodically, and at times quite boldly, I have for sure not delivered the good news to EVERY creature. No. Not enough. Free Public Service Announcement for Preachers: Might I add, dear fellow minister friends... Let us not count ourselves as having done well because we are quick to share His goodness from behind the pulpit to fellow believers or those who come to us. May our personal lives speak louder of His goodness than our sermons. As ministers, pastors, and leaders in the body of Christ, should our personal lives not be the loudest example of the mandate?
What if our aim was to share the Gospel or our personal redemptive story DAILY? How could we impact eternity if we were more afraid of someone living eternity in Hell than we were of being rejected?
I have no funny stories to share today. Instead, I bring to you a bit of eternal sobriety in the beginning of this New Year. Time is short, eternity is long, and Hell is hot. We MUST share the Gospel. Embrace the awkward moments. Speak with His love and boldness. Let us all refuse to let the unknown, uncomfortable, or fear of rejection derail us from our mandate.
Make Him known.
Please share on social media outlets if this helped you in any way. Let us know if we can pray for you also.
